YWCA USA statement on Steve Bannon appointment to key White House position

YWCA USA calls upon the incoming administration to uphold the core American values of justice, equity, and fairness in their upcoming political appointments. The most recent appointee, Steve Bannon, holds and amplifies anti-Black, Islamophobic, anti-Semitic, misogynist, anti-immigrant, and anti-LGBTQ perspectives which are counter to these values. As such, his presence in the White House administration would stand to threaten progress on racial justice and women’s rights, and would demonstrate to the American people a lack of commitment to the freedoms and well-being of marginalized communities.
